"The following is the text of my "Strategic Living" e-mail about our Nov. 15 time. It is a snapshop of our vision for this.
"One of the unspoken-but-profound truths of the gospel is that Jesus "dwelt among us"; he came to seek and save the lost. He CAME! As the hymn reminds us, "He left His Father’s throne above/So free, so infinite His grace—/Emptied Himself of all but love,/And bled for Adam’s helpless race".
In doing so, Jesus purchase for His children the same eternal dwelling place that enabled him to treat this world like a layover. This happened 2000 years ago. This happened 5000 miles away. This happened among people who had no cars, planes or e-mail accounts and who didn't speak English! Somehow people have brought the message over time and space and culture and language to you. This has cost men and women their comfort, reputation, health, wealth and lives.
In the early days of The Navigators, sailors would transfer onto ships where their were no laborers. When World War II ended, some even returned to Japan and Germany for the sake of the kingdom among their former foes.
In 1968 two KSU students TRANSFERRED to KU to reach our campus. Humbling, huh? Ever since there have been students moving into dorms, schol halls, greek houses and the like to ... as Jesus modeled ... dwell among the lost for the sake of the gospel. These are powerful and unparalleled steps--to turn from what is cool, cheap, easy, acceptable, available, appealing to something that might not be any of the above for the sake of the gospel.
Many of you have already done this and our prayer is that many more will continue to do so."

Maybe we can all use the comment space below to interact about where we might live for the sake of the gospel. It was a pleasure having many of you over to our house. MP
